Financial Awards

All GPD fellows either receive or are eligible for the following financial awards:

  • Two-year fellowships
These fellowships are awarded to entering students, currently limited to three per year. Nominations are made by departments, and awards are made by the GPD committee.
  • Summer research fellowships
In recognition of the additional costs and time involved in doing research in the developing world, GPD students are eligible to compete for summer fellowships (in addition to summer awards made by the Graduate School).
  • Dissertation research fellowships
Dissertation fellowships are competitively awarded in the case that a student is not able to obtain external funding. (This elite group, helped by pre-dissertation research, is expected to be extremely competitive for national and international grants.)
  • Seminar and conference grants
Each cohort of students has access to funds to collectively organize a small workshop or seminar series each year.
