Non-Course Requirements

In addition to coursework, Fellows further develop their interdisciplinary training through four additional requirements:

  • Prepare a preliminary dissertation proposal (or, in the case of Economics, a research agenda) as part of the second semester of the core course (DS201)
  • Take one of the departmental preliminary exams in the area of development (except for Economics, which does not have prelims)
  • Have one external member from GPD on dissertation committees
  • Help organize and participate in student-run colloquia
