Presented by the CLACS - Watson Joint Lecture Series on New Security Challenges in the Americas.

                                                     

A conversation, reading and book signing with journalist Sibylla Brodzinsky and Max Shoening '09, researcher at Human Rights Watch, co-editors of Throwing Stones at the Moon: Narratives from Colombians Displaced by Violence.

                           

This event also will feature a slide show and presentation by photographer Stephen Ferry '83, photojournalist and author of Violentology: A Manual of the Colombian Conflict.

                                 

The discussant will be César Rodríguez-Garavito, Craig M. Cogut Visiting Professor of Latin American Studies at Brown University.

Launch of the Brasiliana Collection at Brown University

A display including highlights of the Brasiliana Collection and items from the Thomas E. Skidmore Papers and the new companion website to Dr. Skidmore's textbook Brazil: Five Centuries of Change (Oxford University Press), developed with Brown students over the last two years, will be on view. Dr. Skidmore came to Brown in 1988, where for 13 years he taught the history of Latin America, specifically Brazil, and served as the director of CLACS.

This event, exhibit, and reception are free and open to the public.
