Michele Mericle
Michele is a fourth year Ph.D. candidate in the History department. She has a B.A. and an M.A. in Latin American history from the University of Arizona, an M.A. in history from Brown University, and an M.L.I.S. from the University of Rhode Island. Her research centers on the intersection of law, modernity, and gender in late nineteenth and early twentieth century Mexico. She is currently conducting research for her dissertation on autoviudas, or "self-made widows," in Mexico and in Providence.
