Center For Latin American Studies at the Watson Institute for International Studies
Double Concentrators

Students may opt for a second concentration in addition to Latin American Studies; often this includes a concentration that overlaps with one of the component disciplines (e.g. history), or a related foreign language. No more than two courses used to fulfill the requirements of another concentration may be applied to meet the requirements of Latin American Studies. Concentrators in Latin American Studies may use a Senior Thesis or Senior Project prepared for another concentration to meet the 10 course requirement in Latin American Studies only with the prior approval of the Latin American Studies Concentration Advisor, and under the following conditions: (1) the thesis or project must have Latin American content, and (2) the student must be enrolled in a senior thesis seminar or individual directed study in the second concentration. Approval to use a thesis or project prepared for a second concentration must be obtained from the Latin American Studies Concentration Advisor by the second week of classes during the fall semester of the senior year. Course credits received for the Senior Thesis in the second concentration counts toward the two courses that can be used to fulfill the requirements of both concentrations. Double concentrators can only receive honors in one concentration.
