DS Requirements
Concentrators in DS design their own concentration, but must fulfill three requirements:
1) Take ten approved courses in at least three different departments, including:
- Two courses on a developing region (e.g., South Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean)
- Two courses on a second or on a second and a third developing region
- an advanced-level seminar focusing on a topic of development to be counted toward their ten required courses. Courses that fulfill this requirement include:
• DEVL 1980 (see BOCA for listing)
• ANTH 1320
• Some INTL 1800s
• Graduate level courses on development topics in
Sociology, Economics, Political Science and
Anthropology
• Any other seminar approved by the Program Director/Advisor
2) Write a senior thesis approved by 2 advisors
3) Take DEVL 1980: Thesis Writing Class
