Cultural Awareness and the Military Workshop Series
April 28th and 29th 2006 Workshop:
The Production of Cultural Knowledge in the United States Military
This workshop is the third in a series of workshops dedicated to advancing a critical, pluralist, and empirically-informed dialogue on the ways in which the concept of culture is and has been operationalized for the purposes of military planning, training, and operations, especially in the post-Cold War period. The workshop will convene military and civilian scholars and practitioners to discuss from personal experience the ethical and epistemological issues involved in the production, consumption, and circulation of ‘cultural knowledge.’ The aim of the workshop is to produce edited outputs as well as to establish a network for future peer collaboration and consultation.
Attendance is by invitation only. Please contact Rebekah_Barry@brown.edu for more information.
