Abha Shende, a 2008 Watson International Scholar of the Environment, is advisory president of the Environmental and Energy Department at the Mitarth Environmental Institute in India. She also serves as a technical advisor for the industrial sector in India and Indonesia, as well as for environmental management and implementing cleaner technology.
Dr. Shende received her PhD in environmental engineering chemistry from Visvesvarya National Institute of Technology and completed her doctoral research under a fellowship from National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) in Nagpur, funded in 1993 by UNEP in India. She holds an ISO 9000:2001 certificate for quality management audits for industries and institutes. She also holds a diploma in international trade management.
