Harun Farocki (Germany), A native of the Czech Republic, Mr. Farocki is a filmmaker and lecturer in Berlin, Germany. He originally studied drama, journalism, and applied social sciences at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin. Yet, Mr. Farocki is best known today as leader in the German film community, and the one-time editor and writer of the well-known periodicial Filmkritik. For the past two years, he has lectured at the Hochschule der K_nste in Berlin. Mr. Farocki’s filmography includes more than 80 films including political and educational, documentaries, essayistic experiments, historical reflections, as well as feature films. Last year, his films, videos, and installations were presented at the Westfälischer Kunstverein Müster; Kunstverein Frankfurt am Main; Museum of Modern Art in New York; Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst in Ghent; and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. For "911+1," he presents his 2001 DVD, "Eye/Machine."
