Choices is a national education program designed to introduce substantive international content into secondary school curriculum. The Choices Program's mission is to empower young people with the skills, habits, and knowledge necessary to be engaged citizens who are capable of addressing international issues with thoughtful public discourse and informed decision making.
Teaching Resources
Choices teaching resources incorporate the latest scholarship to make connections between historical events and contemporary international issues. Resources include printed texts and online materials. Choices teaching resources address many state and national standards and are used in a range of courses including U.S. history, world history, global studies, and government.
Professional Development
Choices offers a variety of professional development programs for secondary school teachers including introductory workshops, half and full-day in-service programs, multi-session continuing education courses, teaching seminars, and summer teaching institutes.
Capitol Forum
The Capitol Forum on America's Future is an experiential civic education initiative that engages high school students in study and dialogue on current international issues in an authentic context. The program gives students experience deliberating contested international issues with peers beyond their own classroom and presenting their views to elected officials and policy makers.
Special Projects
The Choices Program undertakes special projects designed to raise awareness on critical international issues and develop a foundation for long term civic engagement in students at the secondary level. Projects often take place in collaboration with other organizations.
