This Project reexamines key decisionmaking processes and events leading to the end of the Cold War, especially focusing on the years 19801990. In May 1998, key foreign policy, military, and intelligence advisors to Gorbachev and Reagan met at Brown to discuss key documents from the period and responded to questions by leading scholars.
The team also has held conferences at Ohio State University and the University of Munich. Authors' conferences were held in 20002001 to complete an upcoming publication, The Role of Ideas and the End of the Cold War, edited by Nina Tannenwald and William C. Wohlforth.
