Gusenbauerˇ Three international political figures will be back in residence at Watson and giving public talks in the coming days - former Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer (at right), Chile's past President Ricardo Lagos, and former Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi.
ˇ The Review of International Political Economy has established its new editorial headquarters at the Institute.

Salman RushdieEVENT REPORTS 
ˇ The traditional space between the public and private is disappearing - not only in international relations but in literature as well, renowned author Salman Rushdie (at right) said in a recent Year of India lecture.
ˇ Understanding the present political upheaval in the Middle East requires revisiting American and Soviet policy in the region during the Cold War, according to Columbia University Professor Rashid Khalidi, who spoke last month at Watson.

ˇ Associate Professor Peter Andreas has received a Richard B. Salomon Faculty Research Award from Brown related to his forthcoming book, Smuggler Nation: How Illicit Trade Made America.
ˇ Senior Fellow Sue Eckert has seen "lots of discussion but not much visible progress" since the UN Security Council voted to reform its procedures for imposing sanctions on terrorists, she recently told policymakers preparing for the G8 Summit in June.
ˇ New visiting fellow Christian Schneider will help expand the Institute's research on border politics, illicit markets, and other issues related to international flows with support from the Swiss National Science Foundation.
